1. Amazon brings coding, AI modules to Karnataka schools
Amazon announced Monday that it will introduce advanced coding and artificial intelligence modules and expand the Amazon Future Engineer (AFE) program. According to a PTI report, the e-commerce giant is offering learning in 100 Karnataka Residential Educational Institutions Society (KREIS) schools. In addition, 30 KREIS schools will also receive the same digital infrastructure. “This extension will affect over 13,000 students in classes 6-8 across 30 districts of Karnataka,” Amazon said.
2. Delhi HC seeks Centre’s response on PIL against deep counterfeiting
According to a PTI report, the Delhi High Court asked the Government of India to respond to a PIL against deep counterfeiting on Monday. Acting Justice Manmohan, who heads the court, said technology cannot be “contained”. A lawyer for the Indian government emphasized that it is already known that the government is investigating the problems caused by deep counterfeiting. Justice Mini Pushkarna said: “There is no easy solution. It requires a lot of consideration. It is a very complex technique.”
3. IBM introduces a new quantum computing chip
International Business Machines (IBM) on Monday unveiled its new quantum computing chips, Reuters reports. The company hopes that these chips will become part of larger quantum computing systems by 2033. The Quantum System Two is the first machine to use these chips, as it gets three “Heron” chips under the hood.
4. Pipplet starts Talent AI
On Monday, online language assessment platform Pipplet announced Talent AI for the education and business sectors. According to the release, Talent AI was actually developed in collaboration with ETS AI Labs and OpenAI. It provides a comprehensive oral and written language assessment in 30 minutes or less and supports languages such as English, Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch, German and Brazilian Portuguese.
5. Nvidia’s CEO promises artificial intelligence processors for Japan
Amid high demand for AI processors, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said Monday that his company is prioritizing supplying AI processors to Japan. The development comes just two weeks after Japan earmarked $13.60 billion in chip investment, according to a Reuters report. “Demand is very high, but I promised the prime minister that we will do our best to prioritize Japan’s GPU requirements,” Huang said.
